Upcoming Workshop: Establishment and Growth of Backyard Conservation Practices
Tuesday, July 28, 6:30-8:30 p.m. - Noblesville

This unique and informative workshop will feature a tour of a 2-year-old rain garden and a 2-month-old pond shoreline planting.  See how quickly the native plants have established and started providing environmental benefits.  Learn to identify some of the blooming wildflowers, too!

Will the Government Pay You To Practice Conservation ?

The answer is YES…assuming you meet the eligibility requirements. There is currently a federal-state conservation program available for people who own cropland that is adjacent to any eligible water body, including streams, rivers and other water bodies. The program is called the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP), and the practices include:

(1) filter strips, (2) hardwood tree planting, (3) riparian buffers, (4) bottomland tree planting, (5) wetland restoration, (6) native grasses, and (7) wildlife habitat.

For more information on CREP click here.
