Ecological Benefits
• The early flowers feed bees and other pollinators, and the foliage supports butterfly and moth caterpillars. Seeds are eaten by birds.

Eastern Redbud is a dependable small native tree for customers who want dramatic early spring flowers without the scale of a large shade tree. Pink-purple blooms cover the bare branches before leaves emerge, providing valuable food for early bees. The foliage also supports native caterpillars, and birds eat the seeds. We recommend it for residential landscapes, woodland edges, and pollinator gardens with well-drained soil. Avoid major root disturbance, wet sites, and locations exposed to repeated branch damage.
