Why We Recommend It
Elderberry is a fast-growing native shrub with large white flower clusters, abundant dark berries, and exceptional value for birds and other wildlife. We recommend it for edible gardens, informal screens, rain-garden edges, and naturalized low areas where a broad suckering colony is welcome. Pollinators use the flowers, and dense growth provides cover. Plant more than one genetically different shrub for heavier fruiting, and properly cook or process the berries because raw unripe fruit and other plant parts can cause illness.

Care/behavior information: Remove older stems at ground level to encourage vigorous new growth. Plant more than one genetically different plant for the heaviest fruit set.

Because survival depends on planting methods, weather, site conditions, and ongoing care, we cannot offer refunds or guarantees after pickup. Height estimates are approximate and not guaranteed. Remember that you're investing in a healthy root system—the foundation of long-term success—not simply above-ground height.
