Ecological Benefits

Why We Recommend It
New England Aster is a brilliant late-season perennial and an especially important nectar source for monarchs during fall migration. We recommend it for pollinator gardens, moist meadows, rain-garden edges, and the back of large sunny borders. Bees and butterflies crowd the purple flowers, while the foliage and standing stems support caterpillars and overwintering insects. Tall plants may need pinching or support, and consistent moisture helps prevent lower leaves from drying or developing mildew during summer stress.
