Soil Maps & Surveys

Have a question about soil types on your property?  Need access to historical or current maps?

Your SWCD can help!
Online Map Resources

Web Soil Survey (WSS)
The Web Soil Survey is a quick, easy, and free way to get the most current soil data.  In four easy steps you can access a variety of soil data and print maps to help with your land-use and management decisions.

The site also offers tutorials and info sheets to help you get started using the WSS.

Smartphone app
The California Soil Resources Lab has created a smartphone app that allows you to access USDA-NCSS soil data.  Search "Soil Web" in your phone's app store

Hard Copy Soil Survey Maps
If you are unable to find what you are looking for on the WSS, the SWCD has a limited number of historical soil maps.  Please call our office to arrange an appointment time or drop by.
