Tool Loan FAQ

Do I have to live in Hamilton County to use this program?
Yes, this program is for Hamilton County property owners/taxpayers and the tools are for use in Hamilton County.

Can I extend or renew an existing loan?
If there is no conflicting reservation or hold you can renew your item one time.  This can be completed through the online system (myTurn) when half of your original loan period has passed.
  • Log in to your account at https://hamiltonswcd.myturn.com. Go to "My Account -> Loans". If an item is allowed to be renewed, a "Renew" button will be listed in the Actions column.
  • You can also call our office at 317-773-2181.

How long are the loan periods?
  • The standard loan period for most items is 10 days. You can select a shorter loan length through the myTurn system. We ask that you only reserve items for the shortest amount of time needed. You are welcome to return items early.

Can I reserve a tool for the future?
  • You can reserve tools for future dates through the myTurn system.  This may be especially help for tools needed for group work days or planned project installations.
  • Create or login to your account. Add items to your card and select reserve.
    • Reservation how to article.

Will I be charged if I return my tool late?
  • You are required to have a credit card on file to complete a registration or check out.  Overdue items will start to accrue late fees of $5/business day/item after a 2 day grace period. Items must be checked in by staff, they cannot be left outside our office outside of our business hours.  If you have an issue related to returning your item please contact our office and we'll be happy to help you.

How do I check out a tool?
  • You can create an account in the myturn system and set up a reservation for your desired items and dates.  You can also call or come by our office and we can help you set up a reservation or complete an immediate check out for any available items.   We ask that you please call ahead to schedule due to covid protocols.

How do I return a tool?
  • Bring your tools back to our office. Our business hours are Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30. We ask that you please be at our office by 4pm for tool loan return to accommodate time for the check in process and to complete our tool return survey. You can complete the survey ahead of time here.
